Academic Excellence Recipient
“I came to Mayland when I was 33 and had two children,” said Pham. “I wanted to be able to better provide for my family. One of the best things you can do in this country with your freedom is to get an education. Mayland is a great start for anyone [who is wanting to further their education].”
Pham said he liked math when he started college, and after taking math courses from Mayland instructor Larry Shook, grew to love the subject. It is now the foundation to the career path he has chosen. Pham will continue his path in mathematics and science at ASU. His dream job would be as an independent consultant in risk management or in financial analysis.
“Math does not lie,” said Pham, who participated with Mayland’s math team at a math competition in Georgia last year. “It is a great scientific tool.”
Pham said he learned more than just the basics while attending classes at Mayland. His confidence also increased, and he is ready for the next step in his educational journey at ASU.
“Mayland has been a wonderful experience,” said Pham. “I learned a lot from my instructors and now encourage people to enroll at Mayland.”
