Electrical Contractor License Renewal (8 Hours)

This course is designed to provide electrical contractors with updated information on the latest changes in the National Electric Code, NC Electric Code, and local utility company requirements. When offered during fiscal year 2013-2014, this course meets the requirements of the North Carolina State Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors for 8 contact hours of continuing education credit. This course is not sponsored by the Board. Students should bring a current copy of the NC Electrical Code Book to class. A one hour lunch break will be given.

Auto Safety Inspection (8 Hours)

This course prepares auto technicians and service personnel as safety and emission inspectors for motor vehicles. It includes regulations and test inspection procedures and is taught to insure that the student understands the rules and regulations can inspect a vehicle properly and can successfully pass qualification exams for certification as a safety and emissions inspector at a licensed inspection station. Nursing Faculty Training (45 Hours)

The North Carolina Board of Nursing requires all nursing faculty who teach in pre-licensure programs to complete specific education requirements in teaching and learning principles in adult education. Nursing 3500 consists of two online training modules designed to meet the requirements of the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission and fulfilling the 45 contact hours of teaching and learning in adult education required by the NC Board of Nursing. NC Concealed Carry Handgun (10 Hours)

This class provides the training and certificate needed to apply for a handgun permit at any Sheriff’s Department in NC. You must be at least 21 and a NC resident. To attend this class, you cannot have been convicted of any felonies or misdemeanor violent crimes. Bring 100 rounds of ammunition, a handgun, and holster to the firing range portion of the class ONLY . Bring a bag lunch. Space is limited so pre-register early. From 1:00-6:00 pm will be the firing range portion of the class, so do not bring firearms into the MCC campus. A fee will be required by the Sheriff’s Office in order to register for the permit.

Defensive Driving (4 Hours)

This program trains motorists in the principles of defensive driving and is made available by the District Attorney through Mayland Community College, Mountain Professionals, Inc. and the Safety and Health Council of North Carolina. You must register on or before 4:30PM the day of the class. Class MUST have a minimum of 5 students paid & registered to make. Classes will be canceled if class minimum isn’t met. When you come to register you must have the following information ready: driver’s license, social security number and citation (ticket).There is a non-refundable $65 class registration (cash or money order only) fee. Students 16-18 years of age must have a “Dual Enrollment Form” filled out prior to receiving a certificate.
