Placement Testing Procedure
Placement Testing
Step 1) Each student must meet with a MCC admission advisor and complete an application for admission prior to testing.
Step 2) Study and prepare for the Accuplacer placement test by accessing our study guide from the links below or by working with an instructor in the Adult Education Department.
Step 3) Call the MCC Admissions Office at 828-766-1234 to schedule a testing appointment. Testing is available on the Main Campus in Spruce Pine, at the Avery Learning Center in Newland, and the Yancey Learning Center in Burnsville.
Step 4) After you have completed the placement test you will be provided a copy of your test scores. Please keep this copy as a record for yourself.
REMEMBER THAT THE PLACEMENT TEST MUST BE TAKEN BEFORE YOU CAN REGISTER FOR CLASSES!
