Online Tutoring

Online tutoring assistance is available through NetTutor. Below is a video explaining how NetTutor works. A NetTutor access link that will open a live tutoring session and a schedule of when tutors are available for different subjects can be found in the tutoring assistance tab of your class in LEO.

In-Person Tutoring

MCC’s tutoring program is an important part of our retention efforts. Free tutoring is available to any student who would like to receive help, through either the SOAR Program or Student Services.  MCC hires both peer tutors and professional tutors, who are well trained, recommended by faculty, and closely monitored.  Tutoring sessions take place in a tutoring center that is equipped with dry erase boards and computers at each station.  The center is located in an area that is private, quiet, and has a window that allows close monitoring without disrupting the sessions.  If you are a student in need of tutoring assistance please come by the Student Services Office in Gwaltney Hall.

SOAR

SOAR (Support Options for Achievement and Retention) is a TRIO Student Support Services Program funded by the U.S. Department of Education. The purpose of the SOAR Program is to provide academic, personal, career, and financial assistance to students who qualify based on one or more of the following criteria: low-income status, first-generation college student (neither parent has completed a bachelor’s degree), or a documented disability. The SOAR Program focuses on students’ assets and how to apply them in navigating college life.  It provides the support needed to overcome obstacles and connect with resources to reach their goals.
